Terms and Conditions

These Terms & Conditions govern registration and participation in online courses, workshops, and related instructional services offered by Expedition Writing Studio (“Expedition,” “the Studio,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
By registering a student for a program, the registering parent or legal guardian acknowledges that they have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions on behalf of themselves and the participating student.
1. Eligibility and Registration
Expedition Writing Studio provides online writing instruction primarily for high-school students.
Because participating students may be minors, registration must be completed by a parent or legal guardian unless otherwise expressly permitted by Expedition.
Registration is confirmed only after full payment has been successfully submitted and processed. Following registration, the parent or guardian will receive confirmation information regarding the program, including applicable dates, session links, materials, and participation instructions.
Registration applies only to the student named during enrollment and may not be transferred to another student without prior written approval from Expedition Writing Studio.
2. Payment
All program fees must be paid in full at the time of registration unless Expedition expressly offers another payment arrangement.
Expedition Writing Studio does not currently offer installment plans or partial payments.
Any applicable price, fees, and included services will be disclosed before registration is completed.
3. Refunds and Rescheduling
Because enrollment reserves one of a limited number of spaces in a program, all registration fees are nonrefundable except when Expedition Writing Studio cancels a program as described below.
A family may request to transfer a student’s registration one time to another scheduled offering of the same program.
Rescheduling requests must be received at least 24 hours before the first scheduled session of the enrolled program.
A registration may be transferred only to another available time or cohort of the same program, or to a future offering of the same program taking place within the same academic year. All transfers are subject to availability.
Registration may not be transferred to a different program or used as credit toward a program of a different price.
For multi-session programs, registration is transferred as a complete program. Individual sessions may not be rescheduled separately.
Once a registration has been transferred one time, no additional transfers, credits, or refunds will be provided.
Requests made less than 24 hours before the first scheduled session, missed sessions, and no-shows are not eligible for rescheduling, credit, or refund.
4. Cancellations or Schedule Changes by Expedition
Expedition Writing Studio reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or reschedule a program when reasonably necessary, including because of instructor illness, insufficient enrollment, technology failure, severe weather, emergency conditions, or other circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
If Expedition cancels an entire program and does not offer a suitable replacement, the registering family will receive a full refund of the amount paid for that program.
If Expedition reschedules a program and the student cannot attend the new date or time, the family may choose either transfer to another available offering of the same program or receive a refund for the affected program.
Expedition may establish a minimum enrollment requirement for individual programs. If minimum enrollment is not reached, Expedition may cancel or reschedule the program in accordance with this section.
5. Course Access and Technology
Participants are responsible for having a stable internet connection; a computer or other compatible device capable of accessing the required video-conferencing platform; functioning audio and, when required, video capability; and any writing materials or software identified in the program description.
Expedition is not responsible for interruptions caused by a participant’s internet connection, equipment, software, device, or other technology.
If a significant technology problem originating with Expedition prevents a scheduled session from taking place, Expedition will make reasonable efforts to reschedule the affected session.
6. Attendance and Missed Sessions
Students are encouraged to attend all scheduled sessions.
Unless otherwise stated in the individual program description, Expedition does not provide private makeup sessions, prorated refunds, or partial credits when a student misses a scheduled class.
When reasonably possible, students who miss a session may still receive materials distributed for that session. Any additional assistance or feedback remains subject to the instructor-availability provisions below.
7. Student Conduct
Students are expected to interact respectfully with the instructor and with other participants and to contribute to an environment suitable for learning.
Behavior that may result in removal from a session or program includes harassment, bullying, threats, discriminatory conduct, repeated disruption of instruction, inappropriate or abusive language, deliberate interference with the online learning environment, sharing inappropriate material, or serious or repeated violations of program rules.
Expedition may remove a student when reasonably necessary to protect the learning environment or the safety and comfort of participants.
A student removed for serious or repeated misconduct is not entitled to a refund, credit, or rescheduling.
8. Academic Integrity and Student Authorship
Expedition Writing Studio teaches students how to develop ideas, strengthen their writing, revise their work, and communicate more effectively.
The student remains responsible for producing their own work.
Expedition instructors may provide instruction, brainstorming assistance, editing suggestions, developmental feedback, examples, and revision guidance. Expedition does not write college admissions essays, scholarship essays, school assignments, research papers, or other submitted work on behalf of students.
Students and families remain responsible for complying with the academic-integrity policies of their schools, colleges, scholarship organizations, admissions offices, or other institutions.
Expedition does not guarantee any particular grade, admission decision, scholarship award, test result, academic outcome, or other result.
9. Ownership of Student Work
Students retain ownership of original writing they create in connection with an Expedition Writing Studio program.
Submitting a draft or other work to Expedition for instruction or feedback does not transfer ownership of that work to Expedition.
Students grant Expedition only the limited permission necessary for the instructor to review, discuss, annotate, or otherwise use the submitted work for the purpose of providing the enrolled student with instruction and feedback.
Expedition will not publish, display, distribute, use for advertising, or incorporate identifiable student work into future instructional materials without prior written permission from the student’s parent or legal guardian and, when appropriate, the student.
10. Expedition Course Materials and Intellectual Property
Course materials created or provided by Expedition Writing Studio—including original worksheets, guides, slides, exercises, lesson materials, instructional examples, videos, and other resources—remain the intellectual property of Expedition Writing Studio or their respective lawful owners.
Enrollment provides the student with a limited, personal, nonexclusive, and nontransferable right to use Expedition materials for their own educational purposes.
Unless Expedition provides prior written permission, participants may not reproduce or redistribute Expedition materials; upload or post them publicly; sell or sublicense them; share them with individuals who are not enrolled in the program; use them to teach or operate another educational program; or substantially reproduce Expedition materials for commercial purposes.
Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of Expedition’s proprietary instructional materials to the participant.
11. Confidentiality and Respect for Student Work
Writing workshops may involve students sharing drafts, personal experiences, ideas, or feedback with other participants.
Participants agree to respect the privacy of other students and not copy, distribute, post, publish, or publicly discuss another participant’s identifiable writing or personal disclosures outside the program without permission.
Expedition will take reasonable steps to treat student work and discussion as private within the instructional setting. However, students and parents should understand that a live group workshop necessarily involves sharing information with other participants, and Expedition cannot guarantee that another participant will never violate these expectations.
Students should use appropriate judgment when deciding what personal information to include in work shared with a group.
12. Recording of Sessions
Participants may not photograph, screen-record, audio-record, video-record, livestream, or otherwise capture any live Expedition Writing Studio session without prior written permission from Expedition.
This restriction protects the privacy of students, their writing, and classroom discussions.
If Expedition ever intends to record a session, families will be notified in advance and any consent required for the planned use will be obtained before recording.
13. Instructor Feedback and Availability
The amount and type of instructor feedback included with each program will be stated in the program description.
Unless expressly included with registration, students should not assume that enrollment provides unlimited editing, ongoing correspondence, private tutoring, or repeated review of revised drafts.
An instructor may choose to provide additional assistance at their discretion, but doing so does not create an obligation to provide similar assistance in the future.
Additional private instruction or editing services, when available, may require separate registration and payment.
14. Program Content and Changes
Expedition may revise instructional materials, lesson order, exercises, or teaching methods when doing so reasonably supports the educational objectives of the program.
Expedition may also substitute an instructor or make reasonable scheduling adjustments when necessary.
Families will be notified of material changes affecting the dates, times, instructor, or essential nature of a program.
15. Privacy and Personal Information
Expedition collects only information reasonably necessary to register students, communicate with families, provide instruction, process payments, administer programs, and operate the business.
Parents and guardians should provide registration and contact information rather than directing minor students to create accounts or provide unnecessary personal information.
Payment information may be processed by third-party payment providers and is subject to those providers’ privacy and security practices.

16. Third-Party Platforms
Expedition programs may use third-party services such as video-conferencing, scheduling, payment-processing, email, or website platforms.
Use of those services may also be subject to the terms, privacy policies, and technical requirements of the applicable provider.
Expedition is not responsible for temporary outages or failures of independent third-party platforms, but will make reasonable efforts to address disruptions that materially prevent a scheduled program from taking place.
17. Limitation of Responsibility
Expedition Writing Studio will make reasonable efforts to provide programs substantially as described.
However, Expedition cannot guarantee uninterrupted access to internet-based services or any particular academic, admissions, scholarship, or personal outcome resulting from participation.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Expedition is not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising solely from circumstances outside its reasonable control.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to waive or restrict any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be waived under applicable law.
18. Changes to These Terms
Expedition Writing Studio may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time.
The Terms in effect at the time a family registers will govern that registration unless a later change is required by law or the family expressly agrees to the revised terms.
Material changes will not be retroactively imposed on an existing registration merely by posting revised terms to the website.
19. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions and services provided by Expedition Writing Studio are governed by applicable federal law and the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
20. Acceptance of Terms
By completing registration and payment, the registering parent or legal guardian confirms that they are authorized to register the participating student; they have reviewed these Terms & Conditions; they understand the applicable program description, schedule, price, refund, and rescheduling policies; and they agree to these Terms & Conditions on behalf of themselves and the participating student.
